Champion Fir and Reserve Champion ove rall. Canaan Fir. 2012 Ohio State Fair |
Reese entered a black hills spruce and a Canaan fir in the Ohio State Fair Christmas tree competition. Each was the champion in its category and the fir was the reserve champion overall.
“We have fun entering trees in the competition,” Reese said. “It lets us demonstrate the quality of our trees to the entire state and we enjoy the competition of it.”
Reese studies the trees in his 25 acres of production to find flawless examples to submit for the competition. He carefully trims each of the trees to attain the ideal conical shape.
“The State Fair trees we entered this year are both beautiful, but different,” Reese said. “The fir tree has a taller, more slender shape that really appeals to many of our customers. The incredible spruce had every branch in the right place to make it a little more curvaceous for those looking for a fatter tree.”
Kaleidoscope Farms had the Ohio State Fair Grand Champion Christmas Tree in 2004 with a white pine entry. For more information about the farm, contact Reese at 419-722-1154.
