A beautiful, deep green black hills spruce from Kaleidoscope
Farms in Hancock County was selected as the 2016 Reserve Grand Champion
Christmas Tree at the Ohio State Fair. Then it was voted the People’s Choice
winner.
The Ohio Christmas Tree Association learns about what the
general public is looking for in terms of tree preference by looking at which
trees get the most votes from fairgoers for the People’s Choice Award. Votes
are tabulated daily throughout the fair and the tree with the most votes during
the event is named the People’s Choice.
“It’s great that we got so many votes from visitors at the
Ohio State Fair who liked our tree the best,” said Dave Reese, owner of
Kaleidoscope Farms. “The judges liked our tree, but in some ways it is even
more fun knowing that it was the People’s Choice too.”
The tree from Kaleidoscope Farms was on display throughout
the Ohio State Fair in the Ag and Hort Building at the Ohio Christmas Tree
Association booth. Kaleidoscope Farms also had the Ohio State Fair Grand
Champion Christmas Tree in 2014 with a black hills spruce and 2004 with a white
pine entry. The farm had the Reserve Champion in 2012 with a Canaan fir.
